Our letter of the week is Mekina’s favorite…. M!
Whenever she sees a word starting with M, she thinks it is her name. “That’s my word”, she says proudly. Since she’s only 3 and she can’t read yet, I try to cut her some slack. “Yes, sweetheart, mustard is your word, alright!” I say as I make her sandwich.
Unfortunately, a lot of adults are still like my three year old, spending their days jumping to conclusions (which do not officially count as exercise, by the way!)
At our office, the letter M is most often associated with Muscles. For some reason, muscles are a really big deal for people. Many times, I hear people jumping to the conclusion that their muscles are the problem with their spine. It makes sense then, why these people waited so long to get here. They thought the problem would go away if they could just ‘stretch it out’.
Of course, muscles certainly are part of the subluxation problem, often a big part. But, hey, without the nerves sending them a bad signal, the muscles wouldn’t get into trouble in the first place. And, I’m the first one to encourage stretching, but if there is a bad nerve signal to a muscle, you can stretch it all day and it will simply tighten again.
The same goes for massage. Everyone can benefit from regular massage therapy, but if you have subluxations sending bad signals to the muscles, they will just tighten again.
So, mind your muscles, but make sure you mend your subluxations using the magnificent method of chiropractic!
