Only 12 per cent of Canadian children are getting the recommended levels of daily physical activity. Seven per cent in New Brunswick to a high of 15 per cent in British Columbia. Health Canada’s physical-activity guidelines recommend that school-aged children and youth get at least 90 minutes of exercise daily.
This problem begins with pre-schoolers because only half are active as part of their daily routines. Only 5 per cent of teenage girls are minimally active, according to the annual report card published by Active Healthy Kids Canada.
